The ReVISION House Scottsdale project is a showcase of high-performance building techniques, combining cutting-edge materials and construction practices to create a home that is efficient, resilient, and sustainable. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, and a labor shortage in the booming Phoenix area, seasoned building science expert Steve Easley and his team have committed to rebuilding their home with a focus on durability, health, and wellness.
Originally planned as a partial remodel, the project quickly shifted to a near-total reconstruction after it was discovered that 85% of the original structure was unsalvageable. This unexpected turn allowed the team to rebuild with advanced materials and methods, including a 2-by-6 framing system to accommodate more insulation and improve the home’s overall thermal performance.

Central to the success of this project’s wall system is the use of Driwall™ LathNet by Keene Building Products. This innovative product is designed specifically for use with stucco, thin brick, stone, and other types of adhered masonry, making it an ideal choice for the ReVISION House Scottsdale.
Driwall™ LathNet simplifies the installation process by combining galvanized metal lath with a polyethylene drainage mesh, creating a two-in-one solution that enhances both the mechanical bonding of the exterior cladding and the drainage and ventilation behind it. This factory-assembled product ensures consistent quality and performance, reducing labor costs and installation time.

The wall assembly for the ReVISION House Scottsdale features an R-37 rating, which is achieved through a combination of materials and techniques. The exterior wall cladding is half-inch thick synthetic stucco, reinforced with Driwall™ LathNet.
Behind the lath, 1.5 inches of Dupont Thermax C.I. R-10 continuous insulation is installed, followed by a DuPont Tyvek StuccoWrap weather barrier. Inside the walls, 2 inches of DuPont Froth-Pack Low GWP closed-cell foam, combined with blown fiberglass, further enhances the thermal mass and energy efficiency of the home.
Driwall™ LathNet plays a crucial role in this assembly by preventing moisture entrapment, promoting ventilation, and ensuring the long-term health of the wall system. Its structured strand polymer drainage mesh offers up to five times greater airflow, which helps maintain a dry and healthy building envelope.
This product not only contributes to the home’s energy efficiency but also ensures that the wall system remains durable and resilient against the elements—a key consideration for a project committed to sustainability and longevity.
The ReVISION House Scottsdale project is a testament to the power of innovative building products like Driwall™ LathNet. By incorporating this advanced drainage and ventilation solution into the home’s wall system, the project team was able to overcome significant challenges and deliver a high-performance home that stands as a model for future residential construction.
