Driwall™ Drainable Housewrap

Part #: 01-X-0185 | Roll Coverage: 500 Sq. Ft. | Pallet = 16 Rolls

A Lightweight, yet durable and easy to install dual purpose WRB engineered to optimize air and moisture movement within wall assemblies

Moisture is a building’s worst enemy, causing mold, rot, and structural damage. Driwall™ Drainable Housewrap by Keene Building Products offers a revolutionary one-step solution that helps you build beyond code requirements. Our American-made product combines a breathable weather barrier with a 1.5-millimeter continuous drainage plane.

Unlike traditional housewraps, our structured strand technology creates multi-directional drainage that expels water faster while allowing vapor to escape. Driwall™ Drainable Housewrap is compatible with all cladding types and features integrated seam tape for easy installation. Its partially transparent design allows you to see chalk-lined studs for precise alignment, while the lightweight, flexible material ensures convenient handling and fast installation. Driwall™ protects your investment, extends cladding life, and reduces costly callbacks.

Frequently Asked Questions About Driwall™ Drainable Housewrap

Drainable housewrap is a weather-resistant barrier (WRB) with an integrated drainage gap that channels bulk water away from the wall system. Unlike standard flat housewraps, it actively manages moisture, preventing water from getting trapped behind cladding.

Use drainable housewrap in projects where added moisture protection is needed—particularly with absorptive claddings like fiber cement, stucco, or manufactured stone. It’s also ideal for areas prone to heavy rain, snow, or high humidity, where standard housewrap may fall short.

Drainable housewrap provides a small drainage gap integrated into the WRB itself, while a rainscreen system uses a separate spacer material to create a larger, more ventilated air cavity behind cladding. Both improve moisture management, but rainscreens offer greater airflow and faster drying.

Drainable housewrap is recommended instead of a full rainscreen system for projects where drainage is needed but full cross-ventilation isn’t critical. It’s ideal for vinyl siding (which already has built-in gaps), lap or fiber cement siding in moderate climates, brick veneer with an existing cavity, budget-conscious residential builds, and retrofit jobs where adding wall thickness isn’t practical. It also works well in regions with moderate rainfall and humidity. Overall, it provides a cost-effective moisture management solution when full rainscreen performance isn’t required.

Driwall™ Drainable Housewrap combines weather resistance and drainage in one product. Its patented design channels water away efficiently, reduces drying times, minimizes the risk of mold or rot, and extends the durability of the wall system—all while being easy to install with standard housewrap techniques.
