Driwall™ Rainscreen 013-1
.13 Inches / 3.8 mm rainscreen. Our thinnest exterior wall drainage mat for thinner application needs.
Keene’s Driwall™ Rainscreen products are engineered with precision to elevate the durability and performance of stucco and thin-stone veneers. Available in varying thicknesses for standard or enhanced moisture management and a UV-resistant option for direct exposure—these rainscreens create a critical gap, facilitating continuous airflow and effective moisture evacuation.
This not only prevents the accumulation of moisture but also significantly, it reduces the risk of mold and structural damage, ensuring your facade’s longevity.

Driwall™ Rainscreen effectively eliminates moisture problems in exterior wall systems. Offering superior drainage and ventilation, preventing mold and mildew while ensuring crews an easy installation.
A rainscreen cladding system is an exterior wall design that includes a ventilated gap between the cladding (like stucco, brick, or siding) and the weather barrier. This space allows moisture to drain and air to circulate, keeping the wall assembly dry.
The main purpose of a rainscreen is to manage moisture. It prevents trapped water behind cladding materials, reducing the risk of mold, rot, and structural damage while extending the life of the building envelope.
A rainscreen works by creating a drainage and ventilation gap behind cladding. Water that penetrates the outer layer drains downward, while air circulation speeds drying. This “pressure-equalized” design protects the wall from prolonged moisture exposure.
A weather barrier blocks air and water infiltration into the structure. A rainscreen doesn’t replace the barrier—it enhances it by adding a gap that allows water to drain and walls to dry more effectively.
Rainscreen thickness depends on design and cladding type, but most require at least a small gap for drainage and ventilation. Products like Driwall Rainscreen typically provide 1/4″ to 10mm of continuous space, which is sufficient for drying.
High-quality rainscreen materials can last as long as the building itself when properly installed. Synthetic rainscreens like Driwall Rainscreen are durable, resistant to mold, and won’t degrade over time like organic materials.
Not usually. Vinyl siding is designed with built-in weep holes and an open back that allows drainage and airflow. However, rainscreen is highly recommended with claddings like stucco, stone, or fiber cement.
Building codes vary, but a minimum 3/16″ to 1/4″ gap is generally recommended to allow both drainage and ventilation. Larger cavities may be required for absorptive claddings like stucco or adhered stone.
Driwall Rainscreen is made from entangled polymer filaments that create a durable, open drainage and ventilation mat. It is non-woven, resistant to mold, and designed to maintain a consistent gap behind cladding.
Driwall Rainscreen is rolled out over the weather barrier, fastened with staples or nails, and trimmed to fit. Cladding is then applied directly over it. Its lightweight roll format makes installation fast and contractor-friendly.

To prevent moisture damage behind stone, stucco, and fiber cement, this Austin luxury apartment complex used Keene’s Driwall™ Rainscreen 020-1. The drainage mat ensures proper ventilation and moisture control—protecting wall integrity and long-term project profitability.

To protect against moisture damage behind manufactured stone, this South Russell care center used Keene’s Driwall™ Rainscreen 020-1. The drainage mat supports proper drying and ventilation—preserving aesthetics and ensuring long-term durability for this 45,000-square-foot assisted living facility.
